Erosion-Control Drainage Channel
Las Cruces desert-lot residence
Monsoon runoff was cutting a rough wash across a large desert lot toward the house. We marked a proper channel, graded it, and lined the whole run with river rock over fabric so heavy rain has somewhere controlled to go.
-
1

The lot before work started — established desert plantings with an unmanaged wash running through it.
-
2

Marking the new channel path with paint before any digging starts.
-
3

Grading the channel bed so water has a clear, controlled path to follow.
-
4

Fabric down first to keep the base stable, then river rock loaded in section by section.
-
5

Rock placement continuing along the run, past the utility box toward the house.
-
6

The channel taking shape — a clean, continuous rock-lined path through the property.
-
7

The finished channel, ready for the next monsoon — water now has somewhere to go instead of cutting new washes.
